One further point is that if a disciple of Jesus seeks counseling from a person who is not a disciple of Jesus, there is a BIG problem in that this counselor will not understand the concept of sin, and worse; benchmarks behaviors against societal norms.
Psychology (by a non-Christian psychologist) and Christian counseling butt heads in several ways. Christian counseling should include the following teach-points: 1. How you respond to anything is your decision…and your responsibility. Counseling must move someone away from a victim mentality. 2. Pain is inevitable, but you need not be grumpy about it. And although it hurts at the time, God works it for the good of those who love Him and are called to His purposes. So counseling must teach a person to appreciate being part of a bigger picture. 3. Look within to figure out where your pain is coming from. Plenty is your own fault; however, God will allow pain and even cause pain in order to (1) strengthen your faith in God and (2) glorify God. Christian counseling that is steeped in the above teaching can leave a person feeling richer than ever -- feeling that they would not trade what they experienced for all the money in the world because now they understand the bigger picture. Secular counseling/psychology often lacks the above.
Well, Christian is being a diciple of Jesus, follower and believer of His teaching (John 14:15-27). So, the one and only Counselor for Chrstian is the Spirit of truth (John 14:16-17). Psychologycal operations may be used in creating target audience(the unbeliever) opinion when we excecute our Christian Great Commission (Mat.28:16-20)as an implementation of our love to God (Deut.6:5-9) since God has said: "For my thoughts is not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways", declares the LORD. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.............. (Isaiah 55:8-13). In Conclusion: Psyhology is a human science, it may gives us a good benefit if implemented in a proper time and space but also may resulted a boomerang to us if it is not used properly. So, the most importan thing is : We have the authority of God with us(Mat.28:18-20) where ever we are and what ever we do in this world.....d cannot be blank
