Going back to the story of Ruth,Naomi must have known that Boaz was not the next of kin, but in all probability he was the one she preferred and so she placed the responsibility for making the necessary arrangements upon him (3:18). Here in the Old Testament is an example were Naomi in a round about way choose Boaz as Ruth's mate.
