"You have paid for your lewdness and your abominations," says the LORD.
"This is what the LORD commands concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, 'Let them marry whom they think best, but they may marry only within the family of their father's tribe.'
for Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married to the sons of their father's brothers.
"For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven.
"But those who are counted worthy to attain that age, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage;
But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife.
And a woman who has a husband who does not believe, if he is willing to live with her, let her not divorce him.
Now concerning the things of which you wrote to me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.
The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.
For I wish that all men were even as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that.
But to the rest I, not the Lord, say: If any brother has a wife who does not believe, and she is willing to live with him, let him not divorce her.
"And it shall be that the firstborn son which she bears will succeed to the name of his dead brother, that his name may not be blotted out of Israel.
"For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,
But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases. But God has called us to peace.
And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
Then Moses commanded the children of Israel according to the word of the LORD, saying: "What the tribe of the sons of Joseph speaks is right.
"Thus no inheritance shall change hands from one tribe to another, but every tribe of the children of Israel shall keep its own inheritance."
They were married into the families of the children of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of their father's family.
These are the commandments and the judgments which the LORD commanded the children of Israel by the hand of Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, across from Jericho.
