The Lord Grants Israel's Request
Nevertheless the people s refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, "No, but we will have a king over us,
"that we also may be t like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles."
And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he repeated them in the hearing of the LORD.
So the LORD said to Samuel, u "Heed their voice, and make them a king." And Samuel said to the men of Israel, "Every man go to his city."

Proverbs 1:25 - 28
Because you disdained all my counsel, And would have none of my rebuke.
When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; Even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.
Then they will cry to the LORD, But He will not hear them; He will even hide His face from them at that time, Because they have been evil in their deeds.
So will I choose their delusions, And bring their fears on them; Because, when I called, no one answered, When I spoke they did not hear; But they did evil before My eyes, And chose that in which I do not delight.
As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of the LORD, we will not listen to you!
1 Samuel 8:5
And said to him, "Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.
