In addition to the reply above one of the first answered prayer was that of Hannah for a son---Samuel (Samuel 1:9-28). Samuel's prayer of victory for the children of Israel in Mizpeh and they defeated the Philistines (1 Samuel 5:7). Hezekiah's sickness, prayer and recovery (2 Kings 20:1-6)

I am a PhD scientist working in medical research for about 45 years. I came to the Lord in my 40th year. In my work and private life I have experienced God's hand in my life and research endeavors to such an extent that I am writing a 120 page book on this.

God certainly does answer prayer sometimes not how we would expect. In His wisdom He sometimes says "NO" much to our disappointment at the time. But later down the track I usually see the wisdom of His NO and am ever thankful for this. God knows best what is needed for our growth into His image (sanctification) and this is all that really maters.

God has answered many prayers for me. My husband and were separated and I prayed for reconciliation. He did not seem to want to come home, even telling me to find someone else. But I kept praying. It was not instant; it took 2 years of praying. Sometimes my faith was weak but I would ask the Lord to help my unbelief.

Well, God answered my prayers. My husband came home, and not even being a man of faith at the time, which he is now. He said God told him to go home. We have been reconciled now for 29 years and celebrating 40 years of marriage. You may think he just came home. No, he told me he wrestled with God all night because he did not want to. We have a beautiful marriage and love one another more than ever. I still have some prayers before God but I know he hears and answers, and he will in his timing, not ours.

I can tell you of evidence that God not only answers prayers. He has answered mine within MINUTES! For years many have enjoyed my prize-winning cookies. The trouble was ~ 3 out of 5 times that I made them, they didn't set right, and would have to be put back in the pan and eaten with a spoon. There was nothing "wrong" with it. The flavor was still there, it just didn't stay in cookie form. One day, it fell upon me to make my cookies for a church event. I REALLY wanted to have the cookies set right, so that my friends at church could taste my delicious cookies in cookie form.

Before starting, I prayed that if there was something different I needed to do, that the Lord would show me. Then I started on the recipe. When I got to one step, I know I heard, in my head, "Stop! Think about what you're about to do." I looked in my hand, and thought about it, and it hit me. I thought to myself, "That's it? This one SIMPLE step was all that was keeping me from having my cookies set right every time?" I skipped the step that I had been doing, and finished the cookies. THEY SET PROPERLY! I thanked the Lord over and over for answering my prayers! My friends at church thoroughly enjoyed my cookies. They now come out properly EVERY TIME! I cannot ever thank the Lord enough! {Thank you, Lord! THANK YOU!}

I know you are enjoying reading this and knowing that my prayer was answered {AND within minutes}. I also know you are wondering what that one SIMPLE thing was that was the problem. The recipe calls for softened butter. I used to buy butter that came in sticks. So after cutting the proper amount I needed, I put it in a cup and microwaved it to soften it. When I moved to New York, I started buying butter that was spreadable FROM THE FRIDGE. Thus, when I microwaved it {out of habit}, I was making the recipe too runny. By not microwaving the butter, it was soft enough for the recipe, so that it set properly! Thanks again, Lord!
