The name Jabez means pain or sorrow so everytime some said his name they were pronouncing a curse on him. A curse is when something is said bad or negative about someone while a blessing is when something good or positive is said about someone. Jabez was honorable because he sought The Lord to change this situation. Jabez prayed to The Lord bless me, O bless me Lord, expand my territory, please be with me in all I do and protect me from the evils of this day. This prayer prayed in faith at the beginning of each day is like daily bread. We see in the Lord's Prayer similarities when Jesus was teaching how we should pray. The key to this prayer and all prayer is the faith connection. When we pray we must believe we receive what we pray. It is worth reading the prayer of Jabez in a number of different translations.
