According to the passage Eve concieved and bore Cain then she again bore Abel.

Genesis 4:1 - 4

ESV - 1 Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, "I have gotten a man with the help of the Lord. 2 And again, she bore his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, and Cain a worker of the ground.

I think it is possible for two to be born, and not be twins.
It doesn't say in the scriptures, so we don't know.

Has anyone looked to see what the word "again" in the Hebrew is? It looks to me like it is the English word "continued." If a woman has a child and then continues in labor, I think that would make them twins.

It is the pattern that is significant. In Matthew "called my son out of Egypt" was the pattern that was fulfilled. That is, the Hosea passage was about Israel taken from Egypt. It is all about patterns leading to free will of the two - salvation included.

The pattern clearly is an early prophetic statement about the spiritual and fatherless birth. To say Adam is Abel's father one has to add to God's word. The omission is intentional! What did Jesus say about the tittle? The pattern is the gospel. Cain killed Abel just as Israel killed Jesus. The "mark of protection" God put on Cain has been a mystery to me until I saw the parallel between Abel and Jesus who were both murdered by their brothers! God has been protecting Israel for 2000 years, despite killing Jesus. That is the God we serve! If he didn't protect Israel, God would be a liar. I didn't see that connection until the other day and I wanted to share it.
