Is repetitive prayer displeasing to God?

Matthew 6:7

ESV - 7 And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.

Yes, scripture states about vain repetitious prayer, but to make our petitions known to God the Father. Talk to God as if He were your best friend, which He is.

Hi, what about praying for healing or for a spiritual breakthrough for someone or indeed ourselves?

Bill,

God knows our needs before we do or even ask. God wants to hear from his children and wants His children to hear Him.

"The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." James 5:16

Its not wrong to ask God for what we need or want. Jesus did (Luke 22:42) and the Father said NO. Paul did and the Father said NO; “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Cor. 12:7-10)

The key to successful prayer is submitting our will to God’s answer. Let your will be done, not mine. He knows what is best.

I feel some prayers never get any farther than the ceiling, simply because they have no meaning. I don't want to be critical of a religion, but saying holy mary mother of god, over and over doesn't reach the heart of God. He knows our needs before we ever ask or pray about them. He wants us to go to Him with our needs. He gladly awaits for us to seek Him out. never, ever feel you are a burden to him. Go to him with every need, no matter how small or large. Be like the woman with the issue of blood and press in to have your needs met. Remember, our faith must be in Jesus and His sacrifice on the Cross. Them rely on the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth. Sacraments and man made laws will not save us.
