The Bible does not specifically refer to Ebola or other critical diseases as part of end time crisis but we do know from Matthew 24 that some of the signs of the season of Christ's coming will be the excruciating difficulties that life on earth will exact on those living on it.

Environmental degradation, human depravity and rebellion against God's moral laws have increased in alarming proportions and so have human conflicts, economic dispatrities and humanistic laws that discount the existence and sovereignty of God. Some of the so called "natural calamities" are now becoming unnatural with new pestilences cropping up, persistent famines and other scourging calamities which have made human life on this earth unbearable and the Bible indicates that things will get worse, not better as the coming of Christ draws near. 

We are yet to identify the cure for HIV AIDS yet Ebola has now taken its place as one of the most dangerous calamities of recent times whose impact has now stretched across sections of the globe including the Western world which never imagined that its advance in medical science would be so radically challenged as now. 

So is Ebola a sign of worse things to come? It appears that this is a grim reality and possibly that many other calamities of that sort may be yet to appear on the world scene. This is a stark reminder to God's people that whatever the circumstances that may unfold, this world is truly not our home and we should look forward to our new home which Christ has gone to prepare for us. 

Scripture declares in Hebrews 11:9-10 "By faith he (Abraham) sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. This is the defining attributable of those whom Christ has redeemed. They seek for a better life, a better hope, a better world of unlimited joy that Christ has promised to unveil to us. 

The Bible also states in Revelation 2:7 (KJV) "To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God."

Unlike under the Garden of Eden where the eating of the fruit of that forbidden tree brought death and immortality, the tree planted in the paradise of God will be available for God's children (Revelation 22:2,14) and evil, death and disease shall be no more (1 Corinthians 15:55).

This message is not intended to convey an escapist view but is simply intended to remind us that God's divine script will fully play out as portrayed in Scripture so that His purposes will eventually be fulfilled and Christ will destroy the enemies of God. Of course we appreciate that technological advancement and medical research have opened new frontiers in making the quality of human life better and we do hope that some of the dreaded calamities shall be subdued. 

The sad reality is that the world as we know it will never be better so long as God is mocked by its systems and evil leaders and wickedness pervades its atmosphere. Let those who have (spiritual) ears listen to the warning contained in the Bible and prepare for the soon return of Jesus.
