What could Satan have given Jesus, since Jesus knew that He Himself was God?
Why would this be a temptation for Jesus?
Matthew 4:8 - 11
ESV - 8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to him, "All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.

Jesus knew that everything was already His. He created it.

Satan tries to tempt everyone. Satan lies to everybody!
Satan knew who Jesus was. Due to Jesus being in a weakened state from fasting, Satan gave it a shot.
We're to understand that if Satan will tempt a tired and hungry Jesus, of course he's going to come after us.
It's a waste of time to try and apply logic to the enemy's actions. For instance, why would he challenge God's authority in heaven? He plotted to establish his throne above God's. Why, knowing the power and sovereignty of God, would he plan such a vain thing?
I think it reveals how crippling is the flaw of being a liar; I believe liars actually succeed in lying to themselves; what other logical reason could explain Satan picking a fight with an almighty God?
He deceived himself; liars deal in deception.
Jesus described him and the people who follow his example; he told them: if you were really the children of Abraham, you would follow his example. Instead, you are trying to kill me because I told you the truth. (Jn 8:39,40).
And this: You are the children of your father the devil.. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies (vs 44).
Here's the verse that's overlooked: "When I tell you the truth, you naturally don't believe me." (vs 45)
Key word: 'Naturally' - It's in our nature to resist the truth.
We are, by nature, deceived and in need of healing!
