Dearest Judy, the answer to your question will no doubt be argued by many however to have the Authority on the subject we must look to God's Word. In Acts chapter 8, we find the Apostle Phillip meeting a man from Ethiopia who was attempting to understand the writings of Isaiah. The Holy Spirit directed Philip to draw near to this man and begin to speak to him, to witness to him. As he did, this man began to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. The man asked why he could not be baptized. Philip asked for his confession of faith and baptized him. Where was the crowd? The Heavenly Host was worshiping God! A crowd as a witness, no, just Phillip and the man.
This being said, it leaves me to ask this question,
"If you are so sure of your faith, and you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, what difference does it make who is a witness to your baptism?"
Jesus said "If you are ashamed of me before men, I will be ashamed of you before my Father which is in heaven."
Just something to think about...

Praying for your strength in the Lord,
Lena
