When we die our flesh body returns to dust the spirit returns to the Father that gave it (Ecc 12:7-8, 1 Cor 5:6-7). To be absent from this body is to be present with the Lord. The good will be on the side of the gulf with Abraham, the bad with the rich man as described in Luke chapter 16. We serve a God of the living not the dead. We are not judged until the great white throne judgment, which is after the thousand year reign of the Lord (Rev 20)!

This is what the Bible teaches about where we go and what we do after death: After death a person returns to dust (Psalms 104:29), knows nothing (Ecclesiastes 9:5), possesses no mental powers (Psalms 146:4), has nothing to do with anything on earth (Ecclesiastes 9:6), does not live (2 Kings 20:1), waits in the grave (Acts 2:29, 34) (Job 17:13), and continues not (Job 14:1-2). The dead are resting in their graves awaiting the Lord's return (John 5:28-29) (1 Thessalonians 4:15–17).
