When a divorced person asks for forgiveness, is s/he simply forgiven, or does s/he have to make amends?

If a person has been living a sinful life and unjustly divorced his/her spouse, will s/he be forgiven by God just by asking? Or does s/he have to make amends and fix the wrongs to show repentance?

The scriptures say that if we confess our sins He (Jesus) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness.

I think that while the desire to make amends may spring from repentance, scripture does not demand it. In making amends we may be guided by the Holy Spirit, as well as our conscience and common sense.
