Proverbs 6:32 "But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul." Proverbs 6:33 "A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away." That's a hard question and situation! However, if there is genuine repentance and genuine forgiveness God can heal ANY sorrow. If either partner was of an adulterous nature prior to marriage, a wedding ring and a piece of paper is not going to instill fidelity. Only God's indwelling Holy Spirit can do this. If there is (was) genuine love in the relationship do not throw it all away because of a stupid mistake. You may never find another love like the one you are about to give up. I'm sure this is devistating yet God's grace is greater than all our sin. Even though you mentioned no circumstances I highly recommend you see a Christian counselor "if" both parties are willing, special emphasis on CHRISTIAN.
