The identity of the Anti-Christ is one that has been long debated. The Revelation of John gives the many references as to the signs to look for and includes that famous, or infamous descriptive of the number 666 (Rev 13:18) used to signify the Anti-Christ. If we look to 2 John 7, we can see a much broader warning; "For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist." (KJV) While this does not speak of the individual specifically referred to in Revelation 13:1-8, It does point toward a situation that we as Christians find ourselves in. The Muslim doctrine rejects Jesus Christ as God incarnate, which denies His ministry and redemptive work reconciling mankind to the Father. This growing false religion is the work of those against Christ or antichrist which John speaks of here in his 2nd epistle. Upon reading Revelation 13:1-8, one can see events that will occur as the Anti-Christ comes to power. The signs of power or miracles, the one world religion and ultimately his being worshiped. These are what the Christian needs to be on guard or aware of. These signs will declare the identity of the Ant-Christ. By being aware of them, and holding fast to one's faith, we will not be deceived or drawn away. The actual identity is less important than our standing firm upon our foundation of Jesus Christ. For without that foundation, we will become lost.
The antichrist has been identified as any person who denies the existence of Jesus Christ in the flesh, 2 John 7. The Apostle John wrote to Christians warning them to watch out for antichrists, who were already in the world, long after Christ had ascended to heaven, 1 John 2:18, 22-23. This applies to those who are in religious institutions that God has no recognition of, Jesus has no authority over, and the Holy Spirit has no power in. Anyone teaching doctrines of men are the antichrist, Matthew 15:9, Mark 7:7. Paul told the Galatian church, in Galatians 1:8-9, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." Antichrists are accursed. Revelation 21:8 says all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone. Antichrists are liars. Revelation 22:18-19 is a warning to anyone who adds to or subtracts from the word of God. Antichrists are great at adding in what they want others to believe, and even better at taking out what they don't believe themselves. The best example of an antichrist is the father of lies himself, Satan! In Genesis 3, what was it he told Eve, through the serpent? He said, 'Ye shall not surely die', Genesis 3:4, implying that God didn't really mean they would be punished for disobeying God's command to not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. What happened to them? They touched the fruit, they ate the fruit, they tried to lie about it, but all parties were punished for their part in this example of disobedience. Antichrists are in the world today. Make religiously sure that you are not one of them! Study your Bible for yourself. If this answer is accepted, I will be happy to study with anyone who has a comment or question about what the Bible says.
The antichrists have been around since Bible times according to the scriptures. Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. 1 John 2:18 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 1 John 2:22 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 1 John 4:3 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 2 John 1:7
