Swiss Psychiatrist, Paul Tournier, in his book Guilt and Grace says that each of us has both a ‘person’ and a ‘persona’. The person is who we really are, the persona is who we appear to be. I am 72 years old and my wife is 64. She was 20 and I was 28 when we were married. 
However, on the inside, socially, emotionally, and spiritually, we are perhaps only a year apart.

I worked in construction for most of my adult life. Mr Johnson was a well driller whom I got to know fairly well over the course of time. He had 2 sons who helped him, but I knew nothing about his wife. One day, my wife and I were at a youth baseball game where his grandson was playing. He mentioned that, he and his wife were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. I replied, “That’s great”, or something to that effect. He said, “You know when we got married, the people in our church counseled us against it. They said it would never last. She was my Sunday School teacher, and I was a high school kid in her class. She was 29 and I was 16. But looking back over the past 50 years, I guess they were wrong!”

Age is a human concept based on time. I believe God does not see time or life as we do. He lives in the eternal present where there is no before or after. As in Adam and Eve’s case He does not see Adam before Eve, or Eve after Adam, but that they are present. 
We see in time, before and after, but God just sees everything as present.
For example when the trees were created, how old were they? They probably all had age rings, but they were also freshly minted with no age yet. I guess what I’m trying to point out is that age is more a factor of our thinking than God’s.

Hairy Animals

God created Adam first. Then He made Eve out of Adam's rib. So it makes sense to say that Adam was older than Eve, since he was created first. 

God promised Abraham that he would bear a son in his old age.

Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, “Will a child be born to a man one hundred years old? And will Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?” (Genesis 17:17)(NASB)

Abraham was 100 years old and Sarah was 90 years old. So Abraham was 10 years older than Sarah. But the respect and love they had one each other were the most important parts in their relation. This attitude of Sarah is given as an example for wives on the pages of the New Testament, when it says:

In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives, as they observe your chaste and respectful behavior. Your adornment must not be merely external–braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. For in this way in former times the holy women also, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their own husbands; just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, and you have become her children if you do what is right without being frightened by any fear. (1 Peter 3:1–6)(NASB)


The Bible never commands that wives should be younger than their husbands. However, all godly women should be subject to their husbands no matter their age Colossians 3:18, Ephesians 5:22, 1 Peter 3:1. In this case, it is helpful if the woman is younger than her husband. If she is older, she may be tempted to boss her husband around and not obey him. You should always be very careful to stay humble, submissive, and obedient.

Love is blind, marriage is a relationship between a man and a woman who have made vows to share their lives till death. A life long commitment and begin ing if a new chow get in their lives. For good or bad. 
Many couples that has counselling opportunity had the opportunity to find out more about the commitment expected of them at the same millions like myself never had counselling and learn the ropes on the way. It is hard and tough, and the cause for many divorces and to an extend same sex relationship. 
Age does not matter when deciding/choosing a partner. It is the heart to live it out through thick and thin.

Let me highlight the pain Abraham and Sarah went through. In desperation, Sarah gave Abraham the permission to sleep with her maid and that resulted in a son. It created some emotional pain no doubt and Sarah got of Hagar and the son Ishmael. 

Then soon she was able to bear a son because they were faithful, keeping a marriage under a serious testing time.
