As I read the question; two things came to mind from the bible. "If you have done as God commanded; why do I hear the bleating of sheep and lowing of cows?" And; "the demons entered the swine....". I think an often overlooked aspect to this question is that the flood and total destruction outside of the provision of the ark is a type or shadow of the totality of the judgment and ultimate destruction that will come upon the whole Earth when the Kingdom Age ends, Satan is released, and the final rebellion occurs. Then according to Peter, the new heaven and earth will come when all that was our physical universe will melt away.
