Prophet TB Joshua is a renowned Nigerian prophet. His church is known as Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN). He occasionally travels to other countries such as South Korea, Singapore, Colombia and Australia. His senior pastors who he calls "Wisemen" have preached in other countries in Africa as well as the United States..

Prophet TB Joshua has many critics because he is not a member of the Nigerian association of pastors, he cannot provide the name of the person who converted him to Christianity and he did not attend bible school. Yet TB Joshua claims he was converted by Jesus like Paul claimed. To the association, the mentorship of God is insufficient. So he operates as an outcast, like the man who wasn't part of Jesus' disciples and was stopped from preaching.

Another criticism is that he gives members of his congregation anointing water and anointing stickers to take home to family members who could not attend the services, in a manner similar to what Peter did with the handkerchiefs.

He has also been criticized for some of the deliverances because the people being delivered usually manifest and speak in demonic voices threatening to kill the person they possess before they are cast out in the name of Jesus. To go there for healing you now have to provide a medical report from a government health institution of your country. You have to be non-squeamish to watch the healing line on their Free-To-Air channel Emmanuel TV or YouTube, because the people who arrive for healing often have huge gashes and rotting wounds, often in intimate places that they are not ashamed to show. These same people often return to show off their healed wounds.

TB Joshua is perhaps best known for his international prophecies. He has predicted the deaths of famous people such as Princess Diana, Michael Jackson, presidents etc. He has also predicted elections, plane crashes, wars, earthquakes and civil unrest. Most recently, in January 2014 he predicted trouble with Russia and a threat of war which has started happening now in July 2014.

Some opponents and former members of his ministry have in the past made videos of TB Joshua's "evil ways" which have been posted on the internet. Sadly though, these same people have often later come forward confessing that the whole thing was a fabrication for money or because their witchdoctors businesses had lost clients to the church.

The final issue which has put him out of favor in charismatic circles is that TB Joshua does not berate his congregation about giving "seed money" like you find in many churches; in fact he often says during preaching 'God is rich and doesn't need your money'. In the years I've been watching the services, I've only ever seen a request for finances once when they sent a plane to help out in Haiti after the earthquake. Tithes and offerings are taken during the service on a free will basis without the guilt trip. All healing/deliverance is done for free. His ministry also supports widows, orphans, disabled, university students even to top universities like Oxford in the UK. He's married and has at least 4 children with one wife as he preaches against polygamy (common in Nigeria), adultery and divorce for any reason, even for unfaithfulness.

Visiting the church requires a person to receive an invitation letter from SCOAN first before traveling to Nigeria. A visit to the church costs roughly USD $800 for a one week visit. This amount covers being picked up by security escort from the airport and being dropped back at the airport after your visit, trips to various places for religious services, dormitory accommodation separated by gender, (beds and linen provided), hot showers, laundry, 3 huge meals a day consisting of a European buffet (roast chicken with potatoes etc). You can also choose to stay in nearby international hotels like Holiday Inn which cost about $400 per day.
