My personal belief is found in Matthew 3:17 when God says, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." Jesus had not even started His earthly ministry, and yet, His Father was telling those present that He was well pleased. God was pleased with His Son BEFORE He did anything. For me this is an example of God's love for us. He loves us BEFORE we even do anything. We don't have to work in the mission field, save hundreds of lives, work in a soup kitchen, etc... for God to love us and approve of us. He already does! According to John 14:20 "On that day you will realize that I am in My Father, and you are in Me, and I am in you." We are truly in Jesus, then God approves of us. US...not our works, but us.
