When Jesus was crucified did it rain blood?

I have no supporting scripture but this has been told to me by two different people and I think it is false. I looked in the four Gospels concerning the events of Jesus' death and find no reference to this.

I have never heard that it rained blood. If scripture doesn't reveal that or imply that, which it doesn't, than we need to believe the word of God.

A number of strange things happened on the day Jesus died.
Every single one of them was a fulfillment of prophesy, that a discerning Jew should have realized what was going on that day.

Similar to the fact that we are not told how many wise men there were, or their names, in Scripture, we should not add extra details to the account.

There is a danger that an enquirer, on reading the Scriptures for themselves, will find what we told them was not accurate, and assume we were telling lies about salvation, etc. as well.

Revelation 22:18-19 warns us against adding or subtracting from God's Word (in this case, the contents of Revelation, but it makes sense for the other books as well).

Christian poetry, hymns, songs and fiction may use images like "a rain of blood" but these are not to be elevated to be taught as Gospel truth.
