Is Jesus' statement that He was "I am" even before Abraham in John 8:58 evidence of His preexistence in the Godhead?

58 Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am."

I am of the opinion that Jesus was at the meeting when God said in Gen 1:26 let us create man in our image, in our likeness......... With this understanding, we will know that Jesus who is in the Trinity was present in the formation of the world.

Yes, the "I AM" statements by Jesus were claims to His Divinity. The Pharisees understood what Jesus meant when He said that which is why you see them accusing Him of blasphemy and wanting to stone Him on the spot.
