...Ask your child to jump off a perch, into a chasm--with only you, their loving parent to catch them. Unless they have no confidence in you because of past experience, they will squeal happily and propel themselves into your arms. Then they will happily shout, "Again!"

Child-like faith!

Likewise, we can have that same trusting spirit with God--who will never let us down. Even if it is His plan to remove us from this plane--He will always Catch us! 

Fear is a learned response, triggered by second-guessing, and the open invitation to doubt and trepidation. In Matthew 11:25, Jesus says, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.” 

The Bible exalts those who have the faith – and the understanding – of little children. Like our children when they wish to jump into your arms from a high perch, again and again.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2:8-10) ESV

Pray a simple prayer: "Lord... I need your grace, to accept your faith--that you displayed abundantly while you were with us. That I might not have fear any longer, and trust in your Word. As little children do..."

My short answer is this: God wants us to have a 'quality' of faith that is pure, real(genuine) and without scrutiny! (Mark 10:14-15) tells us that Jesus was teaching to His disciples and said "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. "Assuredly, I say to you, "whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it". Childlike faith is without blot or impurity and with no doubts! (Luke 18:17)

What Jesus is really hammering within this very important truth is the real substance of what FAITH is: True faith is Pure!
True faith is Real!
True faith in God is Holy unto the Lord!
True Faith in God is unwavering!

**A child has natural purity of trust and faith.**

"Praise God we have a Savior and His name is Jesus Christ!"

What I really think the Bible is focusing on here is not our FAITH being childlike (although that is very true). I believe that we must also be childlike in our DEPENDENCE, our total reliance on our Father for everything, especially the power to keep His commands, as children do. 

Little children depend on their parents for ALL their needs.

Likewise, Christians (who have, by themselves, no power to obey Christ) must also depend on God to supply all that they need.

A two year old has no fear of the future or what tomorrow will bring. They have an innate trust in their parents.

As we come to the Lord in honest humility, ignorance and wonder, like a little child on their father’s knee, we are afforded the beauty of intimacy with Him.

I’m sure the Lord so desires us to look Him in the eye and ask simple questions like a two year old expressing their wonder and inquisitiveness of a newly discovered world.

As we seek Him with childlike dependence, we begin to develop the deep felt faith that pleases Him and changes us. A faith that becomes a cornerstone and foundation of strength that ALL our decisions, desires and thoughts become based upon. Faith that moves forward beyond the trivial questions the enemy uses in his attempts to deceive us and make us doubtful. Faith that naturally inspires us to do God’s work and live for Him.

So cool when we have childlike faith and realize that He really is Who He says He is! So comforting and so freeing. No longer do we wrestle with questions that only hinder us with doubt.

Therefore, like Paul says, let us no longer be confounded and weighed down by the things of the world, but let us move forward to do His work (Romans 5, Romans 8:5, Romans 12). Like a child obediently and joyfully doing what their father asks of them. Trusting that He loves us, gives us hope, protects us and has good plans for us as we do His good will (Romans 8;28, 1 Thessalonians 5;16-18, Isaiah 55:9, Joshua 1:9 and Jeremiah 29:11).
