After Satan is defeated. He will no longer be able to interfere in the lives of God's people. Hell will continue for eternity and the souls that are there will continue in torment for eternity. This is why it is so important for us as Christians to exercise the ministry of reconciliation to everyone in our realm of influence in order that they might escape eternal damnation.

The punishment of the wicked dead in hell is described throughout Scripture as "eternal fire" (Matthew 25:41), "unquenchable fire" (Matthew 3:12), "shame and everlasting contempt" (Daniel 12:2), a place where "the fire is not quenched" (Mark 9:44-49), a place of "torment" and "fire" (Luke 16:23-24), "everlasting destruction" (2 Thessalonians 1:9), a place where "the smoke of torment rises forever and ever" (Revelation 14:10-11), and a "lake of burning sulfur" where the wicked are "tormented day and night forever and ever" (Revelation 20:10).

The punishment of the wicked in hell is as never ending as the bliss of the righteous in heaven. Jesus Himself indicates that punishment in hell is just as everlasting as life in heaven (Matthew 25:46). The wicked are forever subject to the fury and the wrath of God. Those in hell will acknowledge the perfect justice of God (Psalm 76:10). Those who are in hell will know that their punishment is just and that they alone are to blame (Deuteronomy 32:3-5). Yes, hell is real. Yes, hell is a place of torment and punishment that lasts forever and ever, with no end. Praise God that, through Jesus, we can escape this eternal fate (John 3:16, 18, 36).

Revelation 20:10,15 - And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

All of us are conceived in sin, and need Christ, and Christ alone to forgive us our sins. We have this one life to find that forgiveness. Those that do will spend eternity here on earth in resurrected bodies with Christ. Those that do not will also live for eternity, but it will be in the lake of fire.

To be clear about the destiny of those who are unbelievers either at death or when Christ returns we must acknowledge that the bible is the final reference and authority. Common misconceptions, spread throughout Christendom like the leaven in the meal can be damaging to the truth set out in the bible in that misconceptions offer a cheap grace without true repentance.

The bible knows nothing of this cheap grace. The bible is clear in saying that "The wages of sin is death" (Romans 6 v 23) not everlasting life in an endless system of torture and punishment. The present teachings on everlasting torture is nowhere to be found in the bible nor was it taught by the Apostles. It crept in to Roman Catholicism and was reinforced by Dante's inferno, which is absolute fiction. The bible actually says that human beings whether saved or not go to Sheol (The grave / Hell) when they die. This is where Christ went to at his death, not to some kingdom of the damned, but into the grave, from where he rose again as he had prophesied concerning himself.

So to try and shorten this answer, there are no souls in a mythical Kingdom of the damned at this point of time. Whether they be dead 5 minutes or 5,000 years makes no difference, there is no consciousness in the grave, "the dead know nothing at all" (Ecclesiastes 9 v 5). It will not be until the second coming of Christ that the 1st resurrection will take place of all those who are in the grave belonging to himself.

After 1,000 years the resurrection of all those who have died without Christ will take place (Revelation 20 v 5). The greatest misconception of all is concerning the Devil himself, who many believe to be all powerful and will be the means of torture for the many millions of lost souls that are cast into hell, "The lake of fire" (Revelation 20 v 10). The bible is clear that Satan or the Devil, is to be cast into the lake of fire for his punishment, not to promote him to be the God of Hell.

I think it worth pointing out, seeing that the original question asks about the defeat of Satan, that Satan has already been defeated at the cross when the Lord Jesus Christ gave his life's blood for the ransom for sin. Through Christ's victory for us we have only to resist Satan's attempts to cause our downfall because Jesus gives us power over every work of the Devil (James 4 v 7, Luke 10 v 19 & 2 Cor 2 v 14) The only remaining enemy over us now is death itself (1 Cor 15 v 26). No one should gamble with their lives. Your soul is so valuable to God That it cost him his Son to die on a cross to redeem fallen souls to himself. It's better to make sure that your name is written in the Lambs book of life and to be saved than to worry about how to escape God's judgement for the wicked in a lost sinners hell, so as the Apostle Peter reminds us to " Give diligence to make your calling and election sure".

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I believe that somewhere along the way we have forgotten the scriptures : God hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a Name above every other name, that at the Name Jesus EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW AND EVERY TONGUE SHALL CONFESS THAT Jesus Christ is LORD to the Glory of God the Father Phil. 2: 5-11

Nowhere do I read here only the Christian knees will bow. Every knee will bow! Unwilling at first from the depths of the Lake of Fire, however, eternity is a long long time. The Father is patient. Every knee will bow, every tongue will sing praises to the King of All Kings!

Do we really think that God ever made a creature He didn't know the ultimate outcome for? As the Psalmist said, Let EVERYTHING that hath breathe, Praise the LORD! He was looking with prophetic vision to this day in eternity when.every creature created will Praise the LORD!

Be Blessed,
Lena
