How should a Christian help someone see that the prosperity gospel can be misleading?

I don't just mean the 'God will prosper you with wealth' but also the 'you are good enough for God' teaching.

God wants us to be prosperous, however, prosperity is not defined by material wealth only.

When a preacher focuses on material wealth and leaves out spiritual wealth, he has missed the point. If a preacher speaks about prosperity vaguely, causing the listeners to interpret it as material wealth only, he has lead the listeners in the wrong direction.

When speaking about prosperity, we should keep in mind the story of Job and the lives of St Francis of Assisi and Mother Teresa of Culcutta. Most importantly, if we truly want to see a prosperous man, we should look at the image of Christ crucified.

Prosperity, to me, simply means, "Just enough." When god placed us here on this earth He had a purpose for each of us and he promised to provide for us. Greed is man's way of thinking of prosperity. Most ministers on the "Prosperity" kick are not ones that I follow; the bible tell us that there are ministers that will take our minds off the real reasons God intended for us. Do God's work and He will bless you abundantly in all of you endeavors.
