Is Joel Osteen's statement, "Sometimes your own thoughts will try to convince you that you don’t measure up. But God doesn’t just see what you are, He sees what you can become," biblical?

I am not a fan of Joel Osteen and I hate his teaching.

How could this statement puzzle anyone of whether 'God sees what you can become?' Does the question arise because of who the preacher is that is credited with saying it?

Of course God knows who or what we can become! All you have to do to know that is read the bible!

(Genesis 12) God shows up in Abraham's life and tells a 75 year old man that he would father a child, and that child would be the beginning of a great nation. God SAW THAT in a 75 year old man who was married to a barren 65 year old woman, who was already past child bearing age. (I don't think Abraham saw that in himself. I don't think his wife Sarah saw it in Abraham or herself. That's probably why they concocted another plan after they'd waited almost 15 years).

I'm not going to give any more examples.

I'm puzzled about what could have possibly prompted this? The prophets prophesied about persons, places, and things hundreds of years before they came to past. How could God NOT SEE OR KNOW who the people could become?

I think we need to be careful about how we try to portray God's teachers and preachers. Pastor Osteen has a congregation of around 40,000. I hope they're being well fed!

There are popular ministers that I don't care to hear preach. I don't listen to them...
