Stringio Bren Stewart

I am a Christian, and I have been for many years. I also live with the daily challenges of mental health issues.

I have two thoughts after having read this post on bipolar -depressive disorder. The first is my own experience in dealing with this long-standing challenge, at the 'church'. As much as I hate to have to say this, persons within a variety of churches that I have attended are cruel and rude at times in their misunderstanding both of mental health issues and of how Jesus ministered to persons to whom the rest of the world cast off.

Compassion

The second comment is more of a question.

When a Christian becomes inflicted with Cancer, [this is just an illustration of a severe or long-standing illness] people generally cry, say prayers, and many other activities to console both the person with the illness and the family members.

It is generally accepted that the diagnosis is correct, and then the patient follows a series of different treatments. None of this is rarely challenged/questioned by Christians.

However, despite the fact that there are diagnostic analysis' such as MRI's that can clearly display the presence of a malady in a person who is dealing with a mental health challenge yet these findings are more often than not dismissed as being inaccurate by church-going people.

Why is that?.
