An optimist believes we live in the best of all possible worlds. A pessimist fears this is true.

The tire is only flat on the bottom.

But I could only find one actual reference to optimism directly (in answer to the question, What does the Bible say about optimism?):

Gal 1:11 MSG: "Know this--I am most emphatic here, friends--this great Message I delivered to you is not mere human optimism."
