Who is Allah?
How could he be defined? Could he be defined in the scriptures, either in the Bible or the Qur'an, just as YAHWEH is defined in the Bible (John 4:23-24) that He is Spirit. I am asking this question because many Christians seem to readily believe that Allah is equally God YAHWEH. Could someone have a divergent answer/view?

I am not sure what Christians you are speaking with, but no true Christian recognizes Allah as equal to YHWH, there is only one God, and all Christians recognize him as Jesus Christ. Muslims who practice islam are those that acknowledge Allah as the one true God, not Christians.

If you do a study of the Kaaba you will learn that it was the idol capitol of the Arab world before the rise of Muhammad. His uncle was the head priest of it. In short Muhammad got rid of all the other idols and retained the head idol called Allah. So in no way can any true Christian equate Almighty God to being the same as Allah.

Allah is who the muslims worship as God..also,just as we have many different languages and each have what they call God in their language,some also refer to God as Allah but not as muslims,its how God is said in their language.. The Muslim belief is distinctly different from the Christian faith even though there are few historical similarities. As Christians we know God because we know Jesus who is the Son of God..in John 1:1 and 14,clearly shows us dat God came down as man just as Isaiah prophesied..The Muslims do not believe in the diety og Jesus who is the bedrock of the Christian Faith, rather they believe in prophet Mohamed as the messenger of God sent to them.. Now for me I was able to draw a clear and intelligent conclusion from all this;God is in Christ, in order words we can say Jesus is the physical and flawless expression of God..When you see Jesus,you see God,so when a man accepts Christ that means he has come to be in a relationship with God but in the other scenario, muslims believe Jesus is just one of the prophets and not the son of God thereby not God in anyway...Christians believe Jesus is God which means Allah to a muslim is not God to Christians because any faith or person that denies the diety of Jesus Christ has denied the Faith..

Muslims claim theirs is the same god, the god that spoke to Abram. They view Abraham as a true historical figure and the original patriarch of Islam, through his first son by his wife Sarai's handmaid Hagar. His name was Ishmael, and according to the bible, an originator of the Arab peoples. They subsequently became Muslim. One important difference is that the notion, construct and Identity of Allah evolved through time, which stands in stark contrast to The Eternal. The Muslim religion, is a collection of borrowed beliefs,mostly predating Islam, mostly pagan, represented by the ancient symbol of another ancient pagan god, the crescent moon.

Allah can refer to the God of the bible, Creator of the Universe who was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins and rose from the grave 3 days later. It all depends on context. In a Muslim setting Allah is a god with completely different characteristics/attributes from the God of the bible. In a Christian setting (many times in a Muslim-majority country) Allah refers to the God of the bible. Remember: Allah is merely the generic word for "god" in Arabic. My Christian friends in Indonesia pray to Allah, the word "God" in their bibles appears as "Allah". "Allah" is the only name they have ever known for Yahweh. Do they know the difference? Yes. Does this lead to confusion? Yes, and at times a lot of confusion when Muslims and Christians are living closely together.
