Are there other false Holy Spirits?

My Mormon friend converted one of my other friends to Mormonism, and when I realised, I became very upset because this system of beliefs is toying with his soul. He converted, saying he 'felt the Holy Spirit', when my Mormon friend said that it makes him feel 'powerful' (notice that is not 'humble' and the opposite of feeling like a slave of God with a purpose greater than one could create). I felt compelled to counsel them, although anything I say will offend them (because they can't face their doubts head-on). I understand that a lot of the Mormon popularity is a result of many believing that they will be gods.

2 Corinthians 11:4

ESV - 4 For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.

Sounds very similar to cultural Christianity today.

There is only one Holy Spirit, a third part of the holy Trinity. Mormons are not Christians (i.e. saved), therefore the Holy Spirit will have no place in their lives, especially helping them "convert" others.

Mormonism is nothing more than a cult (my sister is involved as a Mormon Temple priestess), and they do not convert but deceive. There is little you can do to convince them unless the Holy Spirit is controlling the situation.

Don't allow anyone to turn your head with slick, well-prepared dogma that sounds very similar to the truth. Charles Spurgeon said, 'Discernment is not knowing the difference between truth and error, but truth and almost truth'.

There is much online regarding witnessing to a Mormon, but as I said, you will be banging your head up against the wall of "Eyes shut" syndrome. Pray and allow God to lead. Perhaps God says 'Hands off' and perhaps He might lead you into a situation where you will find yourself saying things you never thought of.

As a slave, don't move unless you are commanded to.

There are warnings in the Bible about false spirits. A spirit is an animated force that can drive life.

I would not call these spirits "holy."' However, as humans, our desires, thoughts, and very lives can easily be misdirected. We must maintain focus on Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit will direct US on our journey to God.

Consider these warnings - Matthew 7:15, 24:11 & 24:24. I know the Word there is prophet...But, what is the meaning of "prophet"? One who speaks God's word is a prophet. We live in an era of many voices. There is only One we should give ear to.

These voices come in many varieties. A huge one is "Kosmos" - the world system. Remember 2 Corinthians 4:4,5 "Satan is the god of this world..." The adversary, our adversary, (1 Peter 5;8) is seeking to devour us like a lion looking for prey! Do we see Him? Do we hear him? He is an evil spirit! An "unholy"spirit!

The world/Kosmos principles are force, greed, pleasure etc. See Matthew 4:8,9; Ephesians 2:2, and 6:12; 1,John 2:15-17. The world is imposing and powerful, outwardly religious, scientifically cultured, even elegant!.. But, it is dominated by satanic forces wanting to win a war with God!

Consider the fall of Adam and Eve, the sly slithering snake. Some snakes today are equally attractive, wearing suits or promising pleasure. Think about the story in Numbers 11:26-34. Kibroth Hattaavah. A story of false prophecy and the result! Eldad & Medad skipped tabernacle meeting, then...
Disaster! How easy to be trapped!

The spiritual war has been raging since time began. Messages of "unholy" spirits may sneak into our spirits. They are vying for our souls. It could be a snake, a prophet, or an Apple that is enticing us.

But alas, remind yourself Revelation 19:11 thru chapter 21. AMEN, COME LORD JESUS!
