Anyone who preaches "another Jesus" by way of "another gospel" would be considered one of Satan's ministers of righteousness: 2 Cor 11:3-4 "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him." (cont.) 2 Cor 11:13-15 "For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works." Paul speaks of the "simplicity" found in the true gospel of our salvation. Those who taint the truth (knowingly or unknowingly) are who we are to "mark and avoid". Primary examples include those who advocate a "works" based religious life of righteousness with the hope of pleasing God for salvation. However, righteousness is an imputed gift of God and only obtained through having faith alone in Christ alone...for us (Gal 5:4-5, Rom 4:11-24). Satan's goal is to hide his loss and Christ's victory for us at the cross. This is accomplished when "believers" have placed any physical act (anything done "in the flesh") upon themselves with the belief that it will contribute to their salvation, thus making "the cross of Christ of none effect" (1 Cor 1:17). They are placing faith in themselves rather than in the finished work of Christ for them. Rom 16:17-18 "Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. 18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple." It is by God's grace that we are saved through having faith alone in Jesus Christ (Eph 2:8-9), who gave His life to pay for our sins, was buried, but rose again for our justification unto eternal life. 1 Cor 15:1-4 "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:" Eph 1:12-13 "That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise," Eph 4:30 "And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption." Our performance in life after having this saving faith in Christ is the hard part, but it has no bearing on our promised eternal security. Many false teachers will use (and wrongly define) 'repentance' as 'turning from sin', and a requirement before God will accept them, but removing sin from our lives is a result of salvation, not the means by which to obtain it. Although true that the sins of biblical Jews will be forgiven upon Christ's return, our truth for today's church, the body of Christ, is that ALL of our sins were forgiven at the cross (2 Cor 5:19, Col 2:13). Rom 11:27-29 "For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. 28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes. 29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance."
