In scripture God says he HATES or ABHORS those who do wickedness. So it makes me wonder does God hate what the person DOES, or who the person IS; a Sinner?

If GOD hates sinners, this world is truly is a mess, because we are all sinners. Those who think GOD hates sinners, should be careful because HE says: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us! If we confess our sins, HE is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned we make HIM a liar and HIS word is not in us.1 John 1:8-10.

Another thing we should remember is Matthew 7:1-2 Judge not, that we be not judged; for with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you, again.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and come short of the glory of GOD
Romans 2:3

It is not possible for us to be perfect, without sin, as much as we would like to be. That is something we should remember when we think about condemning others. "We are all sinners if we say we have no sin, we lie and the truth is not in us." JESUS CHRIST knew that and that we would be able to see others sins better than we could see our own sins and told us:

Matthew 7:1-2 Judge not, that ye be not judged, for with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

Matthew 7:5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of they brother's eye.
1 John 1:8-10
If we say we that we have not sinned, we make HIM a liar, and HIS word in not in us. If we confess our sins, HE is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make HIM a liar, and HIS word is not in us.

John 3:14-16
Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so the SON OF MAN be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in HIM should not perish, but have eternal life. For GOD so loved the world, that HE gave HIS only begotten SON, that whosoever believeth in HIM should not perish, but have everlasting life.

We know that if we believe in HIM, have faith in HIM, and love our neighbor as we love ourselves we will live with HIM forever.

God is a God of love who loves everyone, that's why he sent HIS SON to die for our sins and transgressions. He loves all, it's the sin/wickedness that he hates and not the person or else HE would not have sent HIS son to die for us all. We just need to chose to accept Christ!

Jesus went to the cross and paid a horrible price for our sin. Those that have put their trust in Him, have received Him and have everlasting life. Those that reject Him have rejected His love for them and will be lost. We love Him because He first loved us.

God is angry with those that do not accept His way of salvation. But yet gives them more time to come to Him. But most are deceived and believe that salvation is performance based and that they can earn their salvation if they just make the flesh good enough God will accept them on their own terms.

Of course, there are also those that believe there is no God, and so there is no fear before there eyes. What do they need saved from?

So yes, God has made a way for sinners to be saved, but those that reject His way God is angry with. But those that have put their trust in Him He loves and will not condemn because He has bought them with His own blood. Our salvation rests on His performance and not our own.

As I checked that I wasn't responding to a certain answer, I will say this....in all the "biblical" and "Spiritual" posts in here, more Feelings have been expressed than doctrinal thought. Lord I'll miss R.C. Sproul!
