The night before Jesus' death, He washed the feet of His disciples and shared the Passover meal with them. During this time Judas was revealed as the one who would betray His master (John 13:1-30)....

The sin of ALL the humans of this world was placed on him along with ALL the consequences of that sin.

Think about that for a moment, if sin hadn't entered the world, you wouldn't die. You wouldn't get sick. You wouldn't have financial problems. You wouldn't grieve, be depressed, be sad, have mental problems, demon problems, lust problems, or get angry...

At some point before the Father allowed Jesus to be crucified He had to place the sin of the world on Jesus - in it's entirety. All past sin and all future sin. AND... all the consequences of those sins had to be placed on Him.

I'm of the opinion the reason Jesus sweated blood in Gethsemane was not just because of an emotional response in foreseeing His coming torture. It was because of the weight of all the sin that had just been placed on Him by the Father. It was real, and it was extremely palpable.

It was totally foreign to a being who was around to create the Universe.

The reason why the disciples fell asleep - I think - was because of all the sin that had just been placed on Jesus. Billions upon billions of soul's sin had just been shoved on Him. Such a thing had never ever happened before.

Only one such as Jesus could have withstood the weight. And even then He still needed strengthening to withstand the rest of the torture from flaying, mocking, judgement, and eventual crucifixion.

Wow.

Few moments before Jesus' death, He overcame satan's greatest temptations:In Gethsemane.
Jesus requested that He be exempted from drinking from the Cup of Sorrows (i.e. the way and death at the Cross). Previously, Jesus commanded satan to go away when Peter told Jesus to avoid the suffering of His coming death.
But in Gethsemane Jesus himself begged to His Father three times with such intensity that blood mixed with his sweat on the face. God the Father did not give in. Eventually, Jesus victory was "Not My will but God's will.be done".
The second attack from satan came when he managed to separate Jesus from His Father: "My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?" Eventually Jesus overcame this temptation as He exclaimed, that His Mission was accomplished.
Praise and thank Jesus forever!
