The Bible tells us it is wrong to want to be famous. One good passage is Matthew 6:19-21. 19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Popularity, fame, and wealth can often lead to eternal destruction. We should avoid the lusts of this world. "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world -- the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life -- is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever" (1 John 2:15-17) Instead we should concentrate on Jesus and glorify God as long as we live. Let me begin by saying being famous depends on how famous you want to be, is it spiritual fame or earthly fame. Earthly fame could lead you to eternal fire. This is what the bible teaches us on how to handle things as children of God in everything we are required we do it for Gods glory. Colossians 3 17 says And whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in [dependence upon] His Person, giving praise to God the Father through Him. It means if you are after spiritual fame then you will do it in the name of Jesus. How did Jesus Christ carryout His fame? He gave us the secret He said in Mathew 11: 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls (Matthew 11:29 NKJV) We should learn from Him taking His yoke for its lighter to manage spiritual fame. Others maybe a burdensome to you. When you have spiritual fame you become humble and gentle in the spirit. It becomes very hard for you to be associated with worldly fame. Humility and gentleness makes it difficult for pride to thrive making you you acceptable before God. The bible says God uplifted the humble and rejects the proud. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. (Colossians 3:2 - 3:5 NKJV) When you seek after spiritual fame then your focus goes on the things of God. You put to death all worldly desires and focus on doing all things in Jesus name. Your walk becomes like that of Christ who said I don't seek after human fame and praise but doing the will of my father. Whatever Jesus did made Him famous and many people came to Him for healing and teaching which also facilitated His crusicification. However although He was famous his steps and standards were all heavenly bound. That's the example we need to emulate as Christians.

It's not wrong to want to be famous, but our motives have to be right (that is, we need to desire fame for the right reasons); we have to realize the price to be paid; and then we have to be willing to pay it. In Mark 10:35-45, James and John once approached Jesus, asking Him to grant them the places of honor at His right hand and His left hand in His glory. Jesus did not reprimand them for their request, but probed further as to their reason for requesting this, and whether they really understood the full implications of what they wanted, by asking them whether they could drink from the same cup, and be baptized with the same baptism, of service, obedience, and suffering that the Father expected of Him. Jesus did not condemn the desire to be famous or to be first, but He told the apostles that, contrary to the way the world operates, if any of His disciples wanted to be great in God's eyes, they had to be a servant to the others, and if they wanted to be first, they had to be the others' slave, just as He Himself had first come to earth not as a ruling King -- which will occur at the close of the age -- but to willingly suffer and die in order to pay the penalty demanded by God for the world's sin. Joseph, because he did the right thing, and did not commit adultery with Potiphar's wife, ended up in prison. But God promoted him to head over all Egypt as second in power. If we humble ourselves, God will raise us up. If we promote ourselves, pride goes before a fall. If we work hard at the talents and abilities that God has given us, He may or may not promote us right now, but maybe later. We do the right thing even though it may look wrong now, but later God will make it right. This is where trust comes in. We believe that when we do right, God will bless us. If we do wrong, He will chasten us. We do what is right, not looking for the blessing, but just because it is the right thing to do, led by the Holy Spirit. God honors our faithfulness with what we have been given. It is not what we do but our faithfulness that God sees. Hebrews 13:5 Be content with such things as ye have, for He hath said, I will never leave you or forsake you. What a promise that is for us sinners.
