Do I pray daily (for a request) or just once and wait for a prayer to be answered?

I am praying to God for a project I want to do.

The LORD tells us to pray to him always. Pray many times, keep asking. The LORD will hear you every time you ask, but he loves the fact that you keep on praying.

Jesus addressed this idea of repeatedly asking for the same thing (in this case the request was for justice) with the parable of the persistent widow:

Luke 18:1, "Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2 He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. 3 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’

4 “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”

6 And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

Obviously, praying for justice is in line with God's will. I think prayers for wisdom or greater intimacy with God or to know what His will is in a given situation are always answered but we may need to demonstrate our sincerity in asking by asking repeatedly if not continually.

You don't have to beg God for anything. Good answer from Doug M., but everything Yes'Hua spoke of during his ministry, he spoke to ANCIENT OLD COVENANT JEWS, not modern westernized [mostly american] people. This is VERY important to consider.

We must remember to read the scriptures with the right "glasses" on. The old covenant and it's teachings are done away with in Christ. Made null and void [according to 2 Cor 3:14].

What I am saying is your attitude toward God has to change. Do not have an attitude of "pray to get something from God", but rather have an attitude of "Thank you Lord that you have already made provision for this thing to come to pass in my life. It's a finished work of Yes'Hua the messiah."

According to our agreement with God, which is the new covenant, 2 Peter 1:3 says we have been given EVERYTHING that pertains to life and Godliness. In other words, WE HAVE EVERYTHING WE NEED IN THIS LIFE - How?

It is a finished work of Yes'Hua, the messiah. When he died on the cross and said it was finished he was talking about the old covenant law, and EVERYTHING you would ever have need of concerning your life on this earth. THE HOLT SPIRIT WAS GIVEN TO YOU as a deposit. Ephesians 1:14 - A deposit meaning HE is on the inside of you!

The new covenant tells us that Yes'Hua is inside of US, meaning everything you experience in life, he is right there with you experiencing it.....I want to make this apparent because living this life is NOT a matter of "o god please give me this or that and please heal me or bless me...etc".

ALL OF THAT WAS FINISHED ON THE CROSS. Everything you will ever need in this life is a finished work of Yes'Hua, the messiah. In him we breathe, in him we have our being.

If you are born-again [in your spirit], then the holy spirit of promise spoken of in the old covenant lives inside of you.

When I have a life issue of any kind, here is what I do.

1. Don't consider the thing you see with your eyes [the problem/issue]
2. ask myself "What does the word have to say about this?"
3. Ask the holy spirit of God in me "Lord I cant do this but I know you can - give me the grace and the wisdom I need concerning this thing. Show me what I need to do/say."
4. Then have faith [confidence in God] that what you need to happen will happen - though not through you, but HIM.

Romans 10:36 tells us NOT to throw away our confidence, meaning our confidence in God. I say this because you cannot approach God if you do not have confidence in Him....If you feel guilty in anyway before God, then you need to first renew your mind with the word of God namely the new covenant.

I know I bounced around a lot with this answer, but there are so many aspects to understand when understanding how to live a successful prayer life.

Also, I dont know how your bible reading habits are, so I will just say this - it is imperative to renew your mind with the word of God daily. I am mainly speaking of the new covenant. In order to get answers to your life while you live on this earth, you must make and spend time with [the holy spirit] God, and the way you do that is with the renewing of your mind in the word. Dont do it out of "obligation" though, do it because you WANT him. God doesn't want us to want him because a law says to do it.... He wants us to WANT him because we want him... It all centers around "where" your love is. God is not a system - He's a living being.

I hope I have been helpful. Now there is much more I can tell you, but it would take a full sermon, really, lol - If you have questions pertaining to anything that I wrote here, just ask, I will try to keep it short and sweet, praise God! lol :^)

It is not wrong to ask God for something continuously. There is no sin in that. In the book of Samuel chapter 2 we hear of a woman called Hanna who every day went to the temple and presented her request to God until God the Almighty answered her with what she was asking from God. God is God because he listens to us when we cry to him and honor him in the end. The Bible says he listens to the prayers of his own people, and answers to what they are crying about.
