Please clarify. It is my understanding that the origin of Baptists was in the very early church and that many were martyrs. Is it true that the Baptists never protested anything during the Reformation because they already existed? In my attempts to understand this, I surely welcome knowledge about where the Baptists originated. Thank you.

Jackie, I refer you to a book by Dr.J.M. Carroll, "The Trail of Blood". This book will answer all of your questions. Baptists in fact are not "Protestants" since they are the only body of known Christians that have never symbolized with the Catholic Church.
