How is God affected by the sins committed by us?

In this verse God says the people were sinning against him. What happens to God, how is he affected, when we sin?

Exodus 23:33

KJV - 33 They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee.

According to ebible, "They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee. (Exodus 23:33)" Sin in ourselves often causes us to notice it more in others, probably because of guilt. Behind many sins is pride which is effectively the same as saying 'I am god' and no-one can tell me what to do. This is the worst kind because then no-one can tell such a person anything, and they accuse others of the very things they do themselves. They also believe that they can reform themselves because sin, to them, is just a character fault and they can reform that by their own efforts. Thus there is absolutely no need of the savior Jesus Christ.
