I would like to answer this question and all other questions regarding the book of Revelation by what I believe to be a universal answer. Do not worry about what specific message was meant for one church or the other, do not waste time wondering who the beast or the harlot are. Do not ponder on the meaning of 666.

The message of Revelation is simple: "Be steadfast in your faith; in the end Jesus will triumph over Satan!"
