How many people will go to Heaven as opposed to Hell?
"Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." How few is few? 100, 50, 10, 1? Does this mean that 99.9 % of people will go to Hell? Or are there just a lot more unbelievers than I think there are?

ESV - 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

No one knows the exact number, and no one can approximate it. Rest assured that if you know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, you don't need to lose one split-second of sleep over it. You are saved and your destiny is Heaven. You do not "seek and find" a "gate," you respond to the call of the Holy Spirit to acknowledge Jesus as your Savior. Rest assured that 100% of those Jews who failed to acknowledge Jesus as the promised Messiah 2,000 years ago couldn't find the gate. Bear in mind that the entire Book of Matthew was written to Jews. It concerned their straying from God to living in sin, devoting their lives to idols, sexual abominations, and all sorts of crime, including murder, thievery, lying. Matthew 7:14 points directly to the Gate that those Jews who accepted Jesus as their promised Messiah and who will, therefore, enter into the KIngdom of God on earth. It does not refer to a "gate" that one will enter into Heaven. We are saved by grace through faith. We enter instantly into His Presence. Which gate do you desire to enter? Heaven, or Hell? God provides the ONE and ONLY way to Heaven: Accepting Jesus as your Savior. See Romans 10:8-13.

I think the question can be understood to mean that how many people will be saved as opposed to those who will not be saved. The answer is actually not far fetched! The Bible at Matthew 7:13,14 gives explicit answer, though not as to numbers. "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it" (Matthew 7:13 - 7:14 KJV). In simple terms, the vast majority of those alive when Jesus returns for judgement will "go to hell"; that is, will not be saved. Only a minority will be saved. A similar situation occurred during Noah's day. Even though the Bible did not not tell us how many people were on the earth at that time, only 8 were saved from drowning. If we assume a figure of 100, only 8% survived the flood. Thus, the Bible does not leave us in doubt. This is no doubt very sobering. No wonder, Jesus advised us as follow: "And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man" (Luke 21:34 - 21:36 KJV)
