Is this one of the best description of God in the old testament?

In the new testament, we learned that God is love. I'm curious to know what other attributes God used to describe himself? Is this the best description of God in the old testament?

Exodus 34:6 - 7

NLT - 6 The Lord passed in front of Moses, calling out, “Yahweh! The Lord! The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness. 7 I lavish unfailing love to a thousand generations. I forgive iniquity, rebellion, and sin. But I do not excuse the guilty. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children and grandchildren; the entire family is affected - even children in the third and fourth generations.”

That is a very good description of God. Yet I think that is a mere drop in the bucket as to Who God is.
The one attribute of His that is mentioned the most in the Old Testament is Mercy. If we had to put his attributes in sequence which would come first..love or mercy? In other words did He have mercy on us because He loved us or that He loved us because of His mercy. Blessed be His name which ever way it is He both loves us and is merciful to us equally in quantity and quality.

I think this is the best answer for the question of "who God is" since it is the only time we see God answer this question Himself. There is no mincing words. God is speaking straight from His lips who He is to Moses. Moses falls in worship afterwards in awe. I can rightly say after taking time to dig a little deeper on the subject I must agree with Moses. This statement from God is powerful!

Yes, this is one of the best descriptions of God in the Old Testament! In my opinion, the 2 verses balance God’s character. On one hand, he is loving (“compassionate… merciful (v. 6)… loving” in v. 7a. On the other hand, in Exodus 34:7b God answers that he is holy, “not excusing the guilty.” Both verses are great for witnessing. He loves the sinner but hates the sin. Sin will keep us out of heaven (Eze 18:4; Rom 6:23), but God’s love paid for our sin (Rom 5:8; John 3:16).
