"When I come to you, I shall come in the fullness of the blessings of the Gospel of Christ" (Rom 15:29) The word "gospel" is an anglo-saxon word meaning "good tidings." The gospel is the "good tidings of great joy to all people" (Lk 2:10). The best definition of the gospel is given by Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4: "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures" (1 Cor 15:3,4). This is the gospel in its purest and fullest form. Any deletion or addition corrupts it (Gal 5:4). The gospel is not primarily about how to be healed, rather how to be saved (Mt 1:21; Acts 16:31; Rom 1:16). Someone who never got healed from a disease can go to Heaven; but anyone not saved from sin cannot go there (Rev 21:27). Lazarus ridden with poverty and disease went to Heaven! Jesus Christ is the Gospel of God (Jn 14:6). The Scriptures give various names to the gospel. When it is called the Gospel of Peace, we stress the sacrifice of Christ (Eph 2:14-16; 6:15). The Gospel of Grace emphasizes Christ's Saviourhood (Acts 20:24; Eph 2:8). The Gospel of the Kingdom emphasizes Christ's Lordship or Kingship (Lk 8:1; Isa 52:7). There's no blessing apart from Jesus Christ (Eph 1:3). Even the Holy Spirit does not add anything to what Christ has "finished" for us. As the Spirit of Truth the Holy Spirit will lead us more and more towards Christ the Truth. "He will not speak on His own authority." He will take of what is Christ's and declare it to us (Jn 16:13-15). Failure to understand this may trap us in "another" gospel.

When I go on the streets proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ I would be as simplistic as possible. We have all sinned and fallen short but God in his great love for us sent His only Son as a sacrifice to take our sin away. Jesus Christ suffered, died and rose from death. We can be set free and start a new life with Jesus. We need to confess that Jesus is our Lord and Saviour to start this wonderful journey. This is the good news.

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the "good news" of the "coming kingdom of God" which is synonymous with the "coming salvation". This was prophesied and first announced after Jesus was imbued with the Holy Spirit (Mk. 1:1-25;Matt.3:2). Jesus needed this in-dwelling of the HS and the Father's pronouncement identifying him as "my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased"(Mk.1:10-11). Jesus is the rightful "messenger" of the gospel of God the Father. This "gospel of Christ" manifests the "power of God(Father) unto salvation to everyone that believes"(Rom. 1:16). This gospel is about "how salvation comes about". This power of God the Father shows us how to "enter" the Kingdom of God, meaning how to be saved. "unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven" (Matt. 5:19, 20). The "righteousness of God" is the "righteousness of faith", by faith "of" Jesus (Rom. 1:17; 3:21-31; 5:1), who started it; He is the "author and finisher of our faith"(Heb. 12:2). And, this faith of Jesus continues "from faith to faith"(Rom.1:17). Meaning, we have to have faith in Jesus and by extension, faith in the promise of God the Father Notice that the "kingdom of God" is still future, "the kingdom of God is near" (Lu. 21:31). Similarly, salvation is still future. While we are "saved by faith", it only means the mechanism of how we are saved and not the "actual salvation" itself. Salvation is about "being" in the "kingdom of God". How so? Remember that everything is about the faith "of" Jesus who started it all. But, faith in whom and in what? Faith in the Father that what was promised to Creator YHVH ELOHIM (Logos, Jesus) will be fulfilled. And what was promised? Looking back at Genesis narrative, God the Father was the Creator of and "purposed" all (Heb.1:2; Eph. 3:9-11), although creation was done actually by the Word/Logos or YHVH ELOHIM(Almighty God; Heb. 11:3) who incarnated into man-Jesus. The original plan was "purposed" by the Father (Eph. 3:11).The Creator God knew that created human beings, Adam & Eve, and for that matter all mankind, would sin against him. Mankind therefore has to be reconciled to the Father. The "covenant" between the Father and YHVH ELOHIM/Creator Logos was for man to be "kingdom of God". And for this to occur the Creator Logos has to incarnate into man-Jesus, die for mankind as a "reconciliation" event. Reconciliation did not actually "save"us, but positioned us to the state of Adam before he sinned. Having been reconciled, the "dead Jesus" would be resurrected to life so that we "shall be saved by his life"(Rom. 5:10); "shall" meaning not yet and still future". What has this resurrection of Jesus accomplished? Being alive, he can then "go to the Father" and receive the "promise of the Holy Spirit" to be sent to us (Jn. 16:7). The Holy Spirit is a "must" as the "flesh is weak"(Mk.14:38), and needed "re-doing like a Potter to marred clay" (Jer. 18:4;Heb. 2:6; Ps.8:4). The in-dwelling of the HS in us, will "seal, sanctify, guide, teach, and give us power" to have the "mind of Christ"(Rom. 12:2; Phil. 2:5-11;2 Tim. 1:7) and "conformed in the likeness of his Son Jesus"(Rom. 8:29). Yes, we shall be like "his Son"(I Jn 3:2-3), different from each other and unique, yet "one"(I Cor. 12:12;Rom. 12:4). Taking the Genesis creation of man into consideration, God has initially created an "image and likeness of YHVH ELOHIM". This "image" however was just a "temple or template" for the Holy Spirit to in-dwell after first in-dwelling in Jesus at the river Jordan. Eventually, God planned for mankind not to stay as "an image" only. Instead, we will be like him in spirit-body, "put on immortality", "one with him" as the "future world" will not be subjected again to angels but to us (Heb. 2:5). This is the "gospel/good news", the plan of "salvation", for us to be in the "God-kingdom", not in the "plant-kingdom", nor the "animal kingdom".

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the Gospel about Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the foundation of His Gospel. He is the cornerstone of anything and everything Christian (Psalms 118:22), (Matthew 21:42). The mystery of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is in understanding the person of Jesus and what His mission on earth had been. His Gospel therefore can be envisaged in the following order; The person of Jesus Christ The person of Jesus Christ as the foundation of the Gospel Embrace Jesus Christ and His teachings Repent of your sins Bear the fruit of repentance The person of Jesus Christ As earlier said, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is about the person of Jesus Christ. By this therefore, to understand the person of Jesus Christ is to understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Thus to ask; who is Jesus? Jesus attempted to reveal to the disciples His person. He always loves it that we get a revelation of Him rather than Him to seem to be playing it. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is therefore always the Gospel of peace. At one moment, Jesus asked what the disciples took of Him to be; Peter said; "...you are the Christ, the Son of the Living God" (Matthew 16:16), (Mark 8:29-30). In reply, Jesus recommended Peter for having had such a wonderful, precious, priceless revelation. For it is upon the person of Jesus that the gospel is. It is upon this that the Church is founded. Going by scripture, God the Father Himself confirms that the person of Jesus Christ is His Son (Matthew 3:17), (Mark 1:11), (Matthew 12:18), (Matthew 17:5), (Mark 9:7). The person of Jesus Christ as the foundation of the Gospel Jesus Christ being who He is, and understanding Him as so, He had been anointed by the Father to set the world free of sin by way of His perfect sacrifice. For Jesus is the name of the person, yet Christ is what He is. In Jesus' capacity as the Christ, He goes on to reveal what His mission is; to set the world free of sin (Luke 4:18), (Isaiah 61:1). On this therefore, to know Jesus is is to know what the purpose of the Gospel is. To know what Jesus' mission is therefore, is to have had the foundation of your belief (John 8:24), (John 6:29). For only through Jesus we can approach God the Father (John 14:6), (John 10:9). Without Jesus, there is no Christian (John 15). The first man in Adam failed to live to his abilities, the second man in Jesus lived up to His abilities and used them to accomplish a mission. He is therefore reliably the foundation of the Gospel (1Corinthians 15:47), (Romans 5:18). For by the righteousness of Jesus, we are counted worthy if we embrace Him. Embrace Jesus Christ and His teachings After having understood who Jesus is, the next step is to embrace the person of Jesus Christ and His teachings. For Jesus being what He is (Son of God and the Christ), He has brought light to the world. This is so by His personality and His teachings. By Jesus therefore, there is hope of life after death (John 11:25), (John 5:24). Yet to deny Jesus can be self judgment to eternal condemnation (John 3:19). Jesus is worthy because He lived a life free of sin (John 8:46). Repent of your sins. No human is not a sinner. It is simply empty and shameless denial one to say he is not a sinner (1John 1:9-10). By way of Adam having sinned, anything human is fabricated with sin (Romans 3:23). Jesus always called for and encouraged repentance if anyone is to be counted for God (Luke 13:1-5), (Luke 18:9-14). Bear the fruit of repentance After you have embraced Jesus and repented of your sin, pursue to live a transformed life. A life worthy of a Christian and which is to the glory of God. There must be evidence of a Christian both inwardly and outwardly in the way you go about your life. How you live your life could be an inspiration to save another soul. For repentance comes out of realization of having been on the wrong side and now crossing over to the side of life (Luke 18:6-8), (John 8:11), (Matthew 3:8-10). The Gospel (meaning "Good News) is the message of faith in Christ which brings us everlasting life (John 3:16) IN the Kingdom of God for eternity (Mark 1:14) due to His grace (Galatians 1:6 and Acts 20:24) which therefore brings us Salvation (Ephesians 1:13 and Romans 1:16). The Grace of God means God has "imputed" righteousness through faith "without the works of the law" -- attributed righteousness to us which is unmerited -- (see Romans chapters 3,4,5, and 6).

I summarize the gospel under 4 main headings: 1) God’s holiness/law/glory (Habakkuk 1:13, a verse Evangelism Explosion—ShareLifeToday.org—and I use--it says, "You who are of purer eyes than to see evil and cannot look at wrong"; 1 Peter 1:16 where Peter said, "God says in the holy writings, `You must be holy, because I am holy.'"). 2) Man’s sin/rebellion/disobedience (Romans 3:23 -- "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"; Romans 6:23 -- “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”). 3) Christ’s death for sinners (Romans 5:8 --"But think about this: while we were wasting our lives in sin, God revealed His powerful love to us in a tangible display—the Anointed One [Christ] died for us."; 1 Peter 3:18 -- "For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,"). 4) The free gift of life by faith (John 1:12, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”). Many churchgoers are confused about the plan of salvation, because there is so much debate over what it really means to be a Christian. If you keep in mind the Biblical truth that eternal life is a free gift, than you won't be led astray.
