The question that has been merged here was,"Is Jesus the original name or is it a translation?". Jesus is a translation of the Hebrew Yeshua, and the Greek Iesous. When the Bible was translated, most of the names were translated into first Greek, with the Septuagint, then later Latin. Later the names were further Anglicized. An example is James which was originally Jacob and Moses which was Moshe or Moseh depending upon the prefered transliteration used from Hebrew.

Another common mistranslation is that of Jehovah. Hebrew has no J in its alphabet. The Israelites revered the name of the LORD that it was and is not still spoken, in most cases. Jehovah evolved from adding vowels to the tetragram YHWH, the name revealed to Moses.

Jesus is called “Lord” (Luke 24:34; Acts 2:36; 10:36; Ro. 1:4; 10:9; Phil. 2:11).
Jesus is called “Christ” or “Messiah” (Acts 2:36, 38; 3:18, 20; 4:10; 10:36; Ro 1:4; Php. 2:11; 2 Tim. 2:8).
Jesus is called “Prince” (Acts 5:31).
Jesus is called “Savior” (Acts 5:31; 13:23).	
Jesus is called “the Son of God” (Acts 13:33; Rom. 1:3-4)

The early chapters of Acts record a number of titles used of Jesus by the early Christians: Christ = Messiah, Lord, Servant (of the Lord), the Holy One, the Righteous (or Just) One, the Leader-Captain-Ruler-Author-Founder-Pioneer (all these are included in the Greek archegos [ajrchgov -- ἀρχηγός], Acts 3:15; 5:31), Savior, Prophet (like Moses), the Stone, Judge, and Son of Man. Each of these has their roots in the Old Testament, were modified by intertestamental Judaism, and were further adapted by the early Christians to speak of different aspects of the person and work of Jesus. Even more, Jesus is the subject of the message of the early church. It is only through him that God can be known, sins forgiven, and salvation obtained; he is also the Lord, the head, of the church whom believers gladly obey.
