"Jesus [the] Christ" is the english transliteration and translation of the His greek name and title Ἰησοῦς Xristós (Iēsous Christos). Iēsou is the greek translation of the Hebrew name "Yehoshua". Jesus is the transliteration of the greek Iēsou (the 'ee-ay-sooce' sound of the greek is familiarized to the english tongue by simplifying to "Jesus").
His personal name (Yehoshua/Iēsou/Jesus) means "The LORD brings salvation".
His title, (Χριστός/Christos/Christ), means "The Annointed one". This is the same concept as the Hebrew "Messiah", whom they expected to save and deliver them. (John 4:25, Mark 8:29)
