The role of the Holy Spirit is the same today as it was on the day of Pentecost - pointing us towards Christ. The Holy Spirit does not seek His own glory, but to push us towards a deep and meaningful relationship with Christ. Before Salvation He convicts us of sin, revealing the Truth of the Gospel. After Salvation He resides in us, providing gifts for Christ's glory, helping us on our path of sanctification (becoming like Christ), and resisting sin. The Holy Spirit will be in this role until Christ returns and redeems the earth and mankind.
