To walk in the spirit a man or woman must be born again. The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace. Goodness, kindness, meekness. Gentleness, patience, with self-control. Galations 5:22-23 Do not mistake meekness for weakness or allow meekness to be displayed as weakness. Meekness here means to be humble before the Lord. The statement as for me and my house we will serve the Lord. Joshua 25:15 Means: that you the parent have dominion over your home. In that the fruit of the spirit is in operation in you and it dominates the home 99% of the time. If we were perfect, we wouldn't need God's amazing grace but never allow (HIS GRACE) to be a license to sin freely. To truly walk in the spirit takes knowledge and the power of the Holy Spirit. Hosea 4:6 says God's people are destroyed by a lack of knowledge. After a time of sinning with Bathsheba, David repented and it says that he began to search the scriptures both day and night. That he changed from a man dominated by sin to a man dominated by righteousness. Knowledge is power in the world and in the Lord. So do you want to be dominated by the Spirit of God or the Spirit of Anti-Christ aka the world. The key to maturity in the Lord. Is this simple truth. You must choose to search the scriptures day and night to to show thyself approved of the Lord by renewing your mind. Romans 12:2 This is not works righteousness. It is training in truth. The bible has a verse: "sanctify them by thy truth, thy word is truth". John17:17 You must renew your mind with the word of God. That is how you learn to discern truth from error. The bible is the greatest book on moral and social truth. Proverbs is a great book for wisdom and to learn discernment too. It is the only way to maturity and wisdom in Christ Jesus. It helps you discern good from evil in every area of life. It helps you discern good and evil in any conversation in any environment with any person. All conversations usually involve error or truth, wisdom or knowledge, and or error or deceit. Some of it planned some not planned but the beginning of all wisdom is the fear of the Lord. Proverbs 9:10 Who else can destroy both body and soul but God. God our creator wants and deserves our respect but he wants our love more than anything else. If you love me, you will obey me. The Bible instructs us to walk in Spirit. Walk in Spirit so that you will not fall in the lust of flesh(Gal. 5:16). John clearly says in 1Jn.3:9 that whoever has been born of God does not sin for His seed remains in him. He cannot sin,because he has been born of God and he walks in Spirit. Walking in Spirit is simply means opposite of walking in flesh(Gal.5:17). Life in the Spirit is a journey, and while there are many great passages throughout Scripture that discuss the role and person of the Holy Spirit, Romans 8 is perhaps one of the most significant. Walking in Spirit is reserved for those who are leading a charismatic Christian life. Walking in the Spirit is the central metaphor what it means to live in a Christian life. The person according to walks in Spirit will in fact, have the essence of the righteous requirement of the law fulfilled in his life. Sin will not have dominion over him. Walk in the Spirit means set your mind on the things above (Col. 3:2). The entire mind set should be that is to be oriented towards the things of the Spirit(Gal. 5:22-23). Walking in spirit means put to death the dees of the body by Spirit. The person who has been regenerated by the Spirit is not stuck in sin. Walking in spirit means one should be led by the Spirit. The Spirit leads us through his written word. Walking in Spirit means we should pray in Spirit. The Spirit is searching our hearts and the Spirit knows that we have a mind set that is focussed on him Without walking in the Spirit, we will never know our freedom and identity as God's adoptive children.
