A Christian mission is an organized effort to spread Christianity to new converts. Missions involve sending individuals and groups across boundaries, most commonly geographical boundaries, to carry on evangelism or other activities, such as educational or hospital work. Sometimes individuals are sent and are called missionaries. When groups are sent, they are often called mission teams and they do mission trips. There are a few different kinds of mission trips: short-term, long-term, relational and those that simply help people in need. Some people choose to dedicate their whole lives to mission. I went on a short-term mission to Puerto Rico for six weeks. We preferably had to know how to communicate in Spanish. I could, but I understood more than I could speak. The team had to memorize "Cuan Grande es Él" ("How Great Thou Art") to sing in churches on the island. This was in Spanish of course. Since then, I have found an inspiring Spanish duet by Eunice Rodriguez and Marcos Witt of this same song!

I believe we had to learn and present our testimonies in Spanish. Two of us men lived with missionaries Byron Backer and his wife. We went door-to-door evangelizing people and leaving them the Gospel of Juan (John) in Spanish and the first lesson in a Bible Correspondence Course.
