Gods timing is perfect, even if He tried to explain it to us, we probably wouldn't understand. It's hard for us to except Gods timing at times, but it helps to know that He is God, and He will carry forth His will.

"Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ" (1 Corinthians 2:16) The apostle Paul reminds us that some things remain a mystery, as God has chosen not to reveal them to us. But everything that God has revealed, is available for us to fully know and experience in this life.

God recorded in the bible over 300 prophecies (predictions) concerning the coming of Jesus (the Messiah) as the Saviour of the world. The apostle Paul also said "For no matter how many promises God has made they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the Amen is spoken by us to the glory of God" (2 Corinthians 1:20).

Consider the very first prophecy God made about his Son in Genesis 3:15 "he will crush your head and you will strike his heel." God is speaking here to Satan (appearing as a serpent) and is predicting Jesus first coming to suffer and die on the cross (you will strike his heel) and Jesus second coming as judge of the world (he will crush your head) when Jesus will completely defeat Satan and cast him into the lake of fire for eternity (Revelation 20:10). It is clear from this first prophecy, that God had decided all his plans and the timing of these events, before the universe was created. Jesus did not know the timing of his second coming, but the Father had already decided it (Matthew 24:36).

It would take a God who was "All-Powerful" and "All-Knowing" and "Present Everywhere" to fulfill all these prophesies at the exact time and manner as they were predicted. And that is true. God has revealed his nature and character to us in the bible so we would not be surprised by these things.

God is all powerful
Job 37:23 - the Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power, in his justice and great righteousness he does not oppress.
Jeremiah 32:17 - you made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is to hard for you.
Isaiah 44:2 - he who made you, who formed you in the womb, and who will help you.

God is All Knowing
Isaiah 46:10-11 - I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please. From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that I will do.
Hebrews 4:13 - Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

God is Present Everywhere
Jeremiah 23:24 - "Who can hide in secret places so that I cannot see them?" declares the Lord. "Do not I fill heaven and earth?" declares the Lord. 
Psalm 139:7-12 - Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.

God's timing of events is always perfect because all His plans and purposes are perfect. Why? Because God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and present everywhere. And because we know that God's will is always good, pleasing and perfectly suited for us (Romans 12:2). 

We don't need to know all the "why's" (the mysteries) because we are able to know the "Who" (God's nature and character) very well indeed.

I think one idea has been forgotten about Galatians 4:4. Roads. "All roads lead to Rome" is an expression most of us are familiar with. News, even the Good News, travels fastest with good roads.

Around 300 BC, the Greeks conquered the known world. The Greek language slowly became the language of commerce; therefore, many people in all the major nations spoke Greek. Then, around 146 BC, Rome began conquering the known world. But in order for the Roman Legions to travel efficiently and quickly, their "Army Corp of Engineers" built roads throughout the Empire. Now, that was a major, multi-year project! There were many valleys, gullies, ravines, etc. That hindered the army's movements, so the road builders leveled hills and used the material (rocks and dirt) to fill in nearby valleys, ravines, etc. They also cleared the level land of boulders, big rocks, etc., and actually "paved" some areas with flat stone. Thus, "Every valley should be raised up, and every mountain and hill should be made flat. The rough ground should be made level, and the rugged ground should be made smooth."
