A woman visited our church and relaid the following experience.
Her father died on 9/11 in performance of his duties as a firefighter. She had mourned his death for her loss and for his since he had never accepted Christ to her knowledge.

About 6 months after he perished she received a call asking to visit her from a young mother. The woman explained that her father had escorted her in heavily pregnant condition down the steps to safety. As he turned to go back up, she was prompted to ask, "Do you know Jesus?" After he replied, "No, but I want to." they prayed right there in the commotion and he accepted Christ only to then reenter the stairwell and continue working until his death.

The daughter was so grateful to hear of his salvation and thanked her.

That is some of where God was on 9/11.

I would like to thank Michael for his reposne, but would add that God did not leave us ignorant that such things would happen. In the prophecies in Daniel and Revelation, God clearly states that there will be suffering, a lot of suffering before peace finally reigns on earth. The 2 books of Daniel and Revelation are given to us to comfort us in times like this. God foresaw all these things from way back at the beginning of time. He informs us to prepare us. We must remember that thevprimary fore that God is fighting is satan and sin.We must assume that on that 9/11 God was in perfect control and acting in love and it did not catch God by surprise.
