Absolutely, yes we should; since our physical appearance is a part of our identity given by God (Genesis 1: 27; Deuteronomy 6: 5-9; 1 Thessalonians 5: 23).

Our physical appearance does not guarantee who really we are (Genesis 27: 22-30) because our physical appearance plays a role as a body language wich also can lie as a verbal language does.

How should Christians care about physical appearance is not to lie or get deceived by one's physical appearance (Proverbs 8: 13).

Should Christians care about physical appearance?

Our dress and grooming should be in keeping with godly principles. We would not think of appearing before a prominent person if we were slovenly dressed or if our clothes were too casual. How much more concerned should we be when representing Jehovah in the field ministry or on the platform? Our grooming and clothing styles can influence how others view the worship of Jehovah. It would certainly not be fitting to be immodest or inconsiderate of others. (Mic. 6:8; 1 Cor. 10:31-33; 1 Tim. 2:9, 10) Hence, when we are getting ready to go in service or to go to congregation meetings, circuit assemblies, or conventions, we should have in mind what the Scriptures say about physical cleanliness and modest appearance. We always want to honour and glorify God.

1 Cor. 10:32-33; Give no occasion of stumbling—whether to Jews or to Greeks or to the assembly of God: 33 Even as I also in all things do please all, Not seeking my own profit But that of the many, that they may be saved. --Rotherham Bible.

We all have preferences about how we want to dress and groom ourselves. If we follow a few simple Bible principles, we can not only express our personal taste but also please God.

What principles should guide our choices in dress and grooming?
We should choose "appropriate dress, with modesty and soundness of mind," and maintain a clean appearance that reflects our "devotion to God." (1 Timothy 2:9, 10)

Consider these four principles:

(1) Our dress should be "appropriate." As you have observed at congregation meetings, God's people have different tastes, but our clothing and hairstyles show respect for the God we worship.

(2) Dressing "with modesty" means our appearance would not be sexually provocative, nor should it draw too much attention to ourselves.

(3) We show "soundness of mind" when we do not adopt every fad of dress and grooming that comes along.

(4) Our appearance should always reflect our "devotion to God," indicating to others that we worship the true God.—1 Corinthians 10:31.

1 Timothy 2:9: In the same way that the women—in seemly attire, with modesty and sober-mindedness be adorning themselves,—not with plaitings and ornamentation of gold or with pearls or with costly apparel.— Rotherham Bible

Conclusion:

Whether our clothes are expensive or inexpensive, they should be clean and appropriate for the situations we find ourselves in. Read 1 Corinthians 10:24 and 1 Timothy 2:9, 10.

Christians are "a theatrical spectacle to the world." They need to be aware of the impression they give others, especially in light of the mandate to preach the good news. (1 Corinthians 4:9; Matthew 24:14) They would therefore not want to let anything, including their appearance, distract others from listening to that vital message.—2 Corinthians 4:2.

While styles vary widely from one place to another, the Bible offers individuals clear, reasonable guidelines to help them choose wisely.

Our dress and grooming should be modest and well-arranged. The Scriptures encourage us to avoid any extreme styles that would offend others and bring reproach upon our reputation and that of the Christian congregation. Rather than drawing attention to their appearance through physical adornment, those professing reverence for God should display soundness of mind and emphasise "the secret person of the heart in the incorruptible apparel of the quiet and mild spirit."
