While I agree with the response, I am concerned about the solo word. James 20:20; 20:26, and elsewhere all point out that faith must be accompanied by our action. Also, Paul's exhortations to his co-worker, I Tim 6:12 "....fight the good fight of faith" are just a couple of examples of the wealth of scripture that emphasizes our responsibility to actively participate in our gifts from God. While there is nothing we can do to merit that favor but we are responsible to actively participate in that faith in what ever way we can. Paul said, "neglect not the gift that is in you " 1Tim 14:10. This letter reinforces our need to respond actively in our faith through our actions (works). Faith without works is vain!
