I know what the Biblical response to believing God's word about His wrath is... Psalms 19:9 The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous. 25:12-14 Who, then, is the man that fears the Lord? He will instruct him in the way chosen for him. He will spend his days in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land. The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. 31:19 How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you. 33:8-9 Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him. For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. 33:18-19 But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. 34:7-11 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Romans 1 v18 following explain quite clearly what Gods wrath is. 18The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness. 19For what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from His workmanship, so that men are without excuse. 21For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking and darkened in their foolish hearts. 22Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools, 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images of mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. 24Therefore God gave them up in the desires of their hearts to impurity for the dishonoring of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator, who is forever worthy of praise! Amen. 26For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27Likewise, the men abandoned natural relations with women and burned with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. 28Furthermore, since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, He gave them up to a depraved mind, to do what should not be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and hatred. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant, and boastful. They invent new forms of evil; they disobey their parents. 31They are senseless, faithless, heartless, merciless. 32Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things are worthy of death, they not only continue to do these things, but also approve of those who practice them. Reject God and sin or carry on sinning and this is God's reaction to those who choose this wide road, "Therefore God gave them up" he literally pushes them away to continue on the road to eternal damnation. Judgement Day is when those who reject God receive the final punishment. Paul tells us this, "2All who sin apart from the Law will also perish apart from the Law, and all who sin under the Law will be judged by the Law. 13For it is not the hearers of the Law who are righteous before God, but it is the doers of the Law who will be declared righteous. 14Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the Law, do by nature what the Law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the Law, 15since they show that the work of the Law is written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts either accusing or defending them. 16This will come to pass on that day when God will judge men’s secrets through Christ Jesus, as proclaimed by my gospel." Unrepentant sinners choose to deny God, the Wrath of God is brought upon them in their denial, their sin and all that comes with it. The are pushed away and given up to live in sin and sin brings death, eternal death and separation from God for eternity. Repentance of sin and acceptance that Jesus died for our sins brings forgiveness and eternity with God.

I think the best way to understand the wrath of God is to see it for ourselves in the book of Revelation. The wrath begins in Revelation 6:12-17 as follows: I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. 16 They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us[a] from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can withstand it?” Then the following events take place: 1. All the Jewish people whom God has called to his salvation are marked with the seal of God on the foreheads (Revelation 7:3-4) 2. All the believers in Jesus are seen worshipping God in heaven after the rapture has been completed (Revelation 7:9-17) 3. Then there is silence in heaven for about half an hour (Revelation 8:1) 4. Then the seven angels with the seven trumpets prepare to sound them (Revelation 8:2) Then wrath poured out by these seven trumpet judgements includes: Trumpet 1: Hail & fire mixed with blood hurled to the earth with 1/3 of earth burned up, 1/3 of trees burned up, 1/3 of green grass burned up Trumpet 2: Huge mountain all ablaze was hurled into the sea with 1/3 of sea turned to blood, 1/3 of sea creatures died, 1/3 of all ships destroyed Trumpet 3: Great star blazing like a torch fell from the sky on 1/3 of rivers and springs, 1/3 of waters became bitter and many people died Trumpet 4: 1/3 of sun struck so 1/3 of day without light, 1/3 of moon struck so 1/3 of night without light, 1/3 of stars turned dark Then God really turns up the fury of his wrath. “As I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in midair call out in a loud voice: “Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels! (Revelation 8:13)” Trumpet 5: Star fell from sky and given key to the abyss. Out of the smoke came locusts which had power like scorpions. They attacked everyone who did not have the seal of God on their forehead and tortured them for 5 months. Trumpet 6: Four angels released to kill 1/3 of humankind. Troops totalled 200,000,000. Horses had heads of lions and out of their mouths came fire, smoke and sulphur as plagues to kill the people Trumpet 7: The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever (Revelation 11:15)” Finally, “I saw in heaven another great and marvellous sign: seven angels with the seven last plagues—last, because with them God’s wrath is completed” (Revelation 15:1). Bowl 1: Poured out on land then ugly, festering sores broke out on the people with the mark of the beast Bowl 2: Poured out on sea, it turned to blood like a dead person, every sea creature died Bowl 3: Poured out on rivers and springs and they became blood Bowl 4: Poured out on sun so it was allowed to scorch people with fire and they were seared by the intense heat Bowl 5: Bowl out on the throne of the beast, its kingdom was plunged into darkness & people gnawed their tongues in agony Bowl 6: Poured out on river Euphrates and its water dried up to prepare the way for the kings of the East. Three impure spirits gather the kings of the whole world for battle at Armageddon on the great day of God Almighty. Bowl 7: loud voice from the throne said “It is done!” Severe earthquake, worst in human history. Large hailstones, weighing about 100 pounds, fell on people.

I believe in the wrath of God because God says in Revelation 14:10, "The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb." (By the way, this is one of the two verses referred to as "the most difficult passages for annihilationists to explain are Revelation 14:10-11 and Rev 20:10.")

John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life; and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life but the wrath of God abideth on Him. God also chastens his own children. The wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience. But He will not condemn us. John 3:18 But we still reap what we sow. First Corinthians 3:11-21. Our rewards in heaven are for how we live after we have received the free gift of eternal life.
